Hallelujah!
I went in to see the orthopedist this morning and the good news is NO CAST!! He instead gave me a knee brace that runs only from mid thigh to mid calf and is removable. I can bend my knee and he said I can put a little bit of weight on it as I feel comfortable. I still have to use crutches, but I will now be able to take baths, pick up Cloey (although not carry her), and not have to be carried on stairs. This is the best news I could have gotten and am extremely happy. Thanks to all for your concern and support.

Daniel, Noah and I went out longboarding this evening. We were enjoying some of the neighborhood hills but on my last ride I got going a bit faster than felt comfortable. The board began to wobble uncontrollably. I decided to bail and jumped off the front of the board and started sprinting at top speed. My legs could not keep up the momentum and I went down. I landed on my right leg and twisted it around then put my hands down and rolled end over end. I laid in the street and cried, I could not move my leg. After some transports and waiting we found out I have broke clean through my fibula just below the head of fibula (see picture). Currently I have a splint from toes to high thigh, and will be getting a cast next week once the swelling goes down. I am trying to be optimistic, but I am quickly realizing how big of a challenge this will be. I can no longer pick up my girl and carry her around. I can no longer give her a bath, I can no longer even put her down in her bed. This will be a tough next month or so, fortunately I have my wonderful husband (the one who picked me up and carried me and put me in and out of the car) (love you) offering his full time support.

We are enjoying some time away from home for the holiday, so I am going to keep this post short. Cloey is crawling! Yay! And not sleeping. Boo! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Little Joys
I am feeling mostly very happy the last couple of days. Here are a couple of joys I have experienced:
I couldn't sleep one night and caught a late night episode of Jon Heder (aka Napolean Dynamite) getting Punk'd. There was a shady situation and they were being investigated by some "police officers" who instructed the group of guys to "hold hands!" and when they tried to get by with placing their hands near the other's: "Interlock the fingers!" Oh it was a crack up but you will probably never know unless you saw it. I since got a season pass to Punk'd but have been unimpressed.
Another joy has been the free trial for Rhapsody on our Tivo. It's a pretty cool feature, and I'd like to extend the trial if I can figure out how to. Cloey has already shown a great interest in music. My girl has rythym, when she hears anything that even closely resembles a beat she starts to dance. I love it. I love the way music makes me feel. I love singing along at the top of my lungs and entertaining Cloey (and losing my breath) dancing around the living room.
And most importantly, I tonight got a call from my sister Joelle who announced she is pregnant! Hope everyone got to hear the news from her first. But I am so happy for her I have to share. If I can take a sentimental moment, having my baby has brought so much joy to my life. Being a mother is simply beautiful and I can't wait for my sister to experience it too. Congrats Joelle and David!!

Everyone is doing it... so i'll give it a try
Only recently have I started to discover and enjoy the blogs of several friends. It seems like everyone is doing it these days. Daniel has been encouraging me to write a blog for some time and while I've played around with the idea, I've always concluded that I wouldn't have anything interesting or write well enough for anyone to want to read. Today however I am diving in. It is in part to the awe I have for the development of my child. She is learning so much. I want to be able to share her with my family who live away as well as keep a record of all these wonderful things she is learning. For example, just today she began reciprocating kisses and signing "eat". Also, she started a habit of waking up to nurse about an hour after going to bed. Wierdish, but it will give me an excuse to spend some time doing this. Enjoy.
